How to take screenshots on any generation iPad

Why do you need screenshots? Simple answer, they’re handy when you need to share something from your screen with coworkers, family members, or the Genius Bar from afar.

But, what if we want to take screenshots on our big iPads and tabs say, the Apple iPad Pro? With several generations been released year after year, does the technique remain the same?

Taking screenshots on iPad might not be the most glamorous thing you will ever do on a tab especially due to its sleek and wide nature but certainly one most useful especially when flaunting your total game point to share with friends or sharing a certain web page with a co-worker.

Whatever reason that may lead to taking screenshots on any of the iPad, you can do that on any generation by following the quick steps outlined below.

A short answer:

Press and hold the Top or Side (Power) button and click the Home button then release both.

Or, if you have the 2018 iPad Pro, press the Top button and click the Volume Up button at the same time, then release both.

Screenshot Strategy 1:
Using the Top and Home or Volume Up Buttons

Taking a screenshot on your iPad will pretty much be easier if you can jut make friends with the buttons located all over your device body- the Top, Home and Volume buttons.

Step 1: Locate the Home and Power buttons. The Home button is usually located directly below your iPad’s display with the power button right-hand corner at the top of your device.

Though the 2018 iPad Pro have since banished the Home button, you then need to find the Volume Up button

Step 2: Next, when you are on the screen you want to capture, press and hold the Power button(Top), then tap the Home button and release both.

For the 2018 iPad Pro, press and hold the Top button and then tap the Volume up button and release both. Your iPad screen will then flash momentarily if done correctly, and you’ll hear a faint shutter noise, assuming your device isn’t in silent mode.

Step 3: Once effectively captured, your iPad device will automatically save the screenshot directly to your gallery roll in the Photos app. Proceed to your camera roll on the photos app on your iPad to view your recently captured screenshot.

Screenshot Strategy 2:
Using Assistive Touch Settings

AssistiveTouch on your generation iPad is a feature that lets you perform complex tasks by selecting a few menu items usually enabled on the settings menu. One of the things the feature allows you to do is take a screenshot without having to press a combination of buttons.

This is usually handy when faced with the inability to press multiple buttons at the same time on your iPad, then taking a screenshot with AssistiveTouch is the way to go.

Next, we now have to start taking screenshots on our iPad without any combination of buttons of any sort.

Step 1: Tap the AssistiveTouch menu button.

Step 2: Go to Device > More and tap on the Screenshot option. Your iPad screen will then flash for a moment, and you’ll hear a faint shutter noise, assuming your device isn’t in silent mode.

Step 4: Once captured, your iPad will automatically save the screenshot directly to the Photos app. Tap the Photos app as you would normally and swipe to the bottom of the screen to view your recently captured screenshot.
