Googel Pixel 3 Lite

A video was recently put out by a Youtube channel called “AndroNews” that showcased the upcoming Pixel 3 Lite launching in the spring– a cheaper alternative to the Pixel 3 and pixel 3XL phones released last year.

Google really garnered the hearts of consumers with its release of last yeat Pixel phone but the Pixel 3 Lite might be another shocker flying off the shelves with its relatively almost similar performance to the original Pixel phones

A device that sorely focuses on price, although its plastic bag feature might be so welcome especially with the original Pixel phones featuring glass backs. Although glass back phones are more costly alongside having a premium look, smartphones with plastic backs can still be awesome, durable, lighter, less slippery and can still get the work done.

Google also added several other things to make the Pixel 3 Lite in order to make it more cheaper.

From running a cheaper mid-range Chipset to slower LTE speeds; though a definite minus from the Pixel 3, it is still a fast processing animation chip and unless for most people that usually go hardcore on smartphone usage in playing like mobile games, you probably will not notice much difference between the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 Lite.

Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 Lite specs

Another input to the Piel 3 Lite is the addition of LCD display panels which are very much good but not as nice as the OLED panels featured in the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL

A makeover with the audio setup seeing the Pixel 3 Lite stereo speakers return to the bottom but has a headphone jack which is pretty added advantage bearing in mind Google removed jacks from their Pixel phones last year.

Here’s a quick rundown of features and specs we know so far from Google’s most promising Budget smartphone:
  • 5.56, 1080 x 2160 pixels, 18.9 aspect ratio (434 ppi) display
  • Snapdragon 670 (10nm) SoC CPU
  • GPU Andreno 615
  • Android 9.0 (Pie)
  • 32GB Internal, 4GB RAM
  • 12.2, f/18, 28mm (wide), 1/2.55″ rear + 8MP selfie camera
  • 2,915mAh Battery

Hardware and Software

The Pixel 3 Lite will sure mean a deviation in Chipset present. The original Pixel 3 phone features Snapdragon 845 but the new pixel 3 Lite will come through with a mid-range Soc in Snapdragon 670 equipped with a GPU Andreno 615. The Pixel 3 Lite will also run an Android 9.0 Pie operating system.

Storage and Sensors

The Pixel 3 Lite sports a 4GB RAM with a 32GB expanded internal memory via MicroSD card. It also features a fingerprint print sensor for security purposes.

Network and Connectivity

The Pixel Lite will sure support most basic network and connectivity features present in the original Pixel phones. With connectivity features ranging from Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, 4G VoLTE, GLONASS and GPS/AGPS. Furthermore, a headphone surprise jack will sure set it apart.

Camera and Battery Life

Google Pixel phones released last year won the smartphone camera award from many influencers though the Pixel 3 Lite is rumoured to sport only one front-facing camera which will definitely mean saying goodbye to portrait mode in selfies and wide-angle focus. The rear camera is almost same as in the original Pixel phones usingGoogle’s camera algorithm.
There is also a 2,915mAh non-removable battery which is definitely not so good but one you can only see in a budget smartphone.

Pricing and Availability

With no definite release date, reliable phone leaks are citing that Google’s mid-range Pixel device should be launched something early this year.

Now the phone is where the idea for a Pixel Lite really bring questions into perspective. Being renowned for not-so-high smartphone prices, the Pixel 3 Lite will surely need a little bit of price hike to draw any form of attention to this. With a rumoured price of $450, it will surely need a lot of marketing to get it flying off the shelves.

However, being a budget smartphone, what price do you think this smartphone deserves to get it picked up on mass? and what price do you think relay will make it look overpriced especially for a 4GB RAM with 32Gb storage smartphone? Let us know in the comment section.
