MCAT ® is the acronym for The Medical College Admission Test®. It is a standardized, multiple-choice, computer-based test that nearly all schools in the United States and several schools in Canada require aspiring medical students to write. For more than 90 years now, the MCAT exam tests have been used as a barometer to measure the skills and knowledge that medical educators, physicians, medical students, and residents possess as these skills and knowledge are considered prerequisites for success in medical school and practicing medicine.
Just like all professional tests, MCAT comes with its hurdles. Statistics show that out of the estimated 85,000 students that sit for the test every year, nearly 24% of test-takers write it more than once in a bid to improve their scores. Considering the hurdles, it is understandable if as an aspiring medical student you do not wish to write the test. And the good news is, you don’t have to if you don’t want to.
Although several health profession schools in Canada and the United States especially now accept MCAT scores instead of other standardized tests, there are still some schools that will admit you to pursue a health-related program without an MCAT score. CUNY School of Medicine
The CUNY School of Medicine is the medical school of the City University of New York. The school which is located in Hamilton Heights on the campus of the City College of New York began operation in the fall of 2016.

The school is an integrated baccalaureate medical educational center that partners with Saint Barnabas Health System for clinical medical education. The school currently offers a seven-year medical program (B.S/M.D.) It is pertinent to state that although the school doesn’t require an MCAT score, it is a highly selective school with an acceptance rate of around 4%, rivaling the ivy league. So, feel free to pass up on the MCAT, but do well to ace the required standardized test in other to stand a chance of possible admission.
Drexel University College of Medicine
Drexel University College of Medicine is the medical school of Drexel University. The school is an integration of the first United States medical school for women and the nation’s first college of homeopathy. It is reputed to be the second most applied-to medical school in the United States with one of the largest enrollments for a private medical school. The medical school is housed in East Falls, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the Queen Lane Campus.
The college of medicine ditched its systems-based curriculum and transitioned into the “Foundations and Frontiers” curriculum at the start of the 2017/2018 school year. This new curriculum aims to train physicians who are skilled at navigating the increasingly intricate and multidisciplinary healthcare system. As a way of creating a community in college, freshers are divided into six learning societies based on iconic landmarks.
University of Florida College of Medicine
The University of Florida college of medicine is the largest of six colleges at the university’s Health Science Center. As the medical school of the University of Florida, it is part of the J. Hillis Miller Health Science Centre with facilities in Gainesville and Jacksonville, Florida. The college awards the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Medicine-Doctor of Philosophy (M.D.-Ph.D.), and Physician Assistant (P.A.) to its students upon the completion of their program.
University of Rochester Medical Center
Formerly known as the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, the University of Rochester Medical College (URMC), or UR Medicine as it is now known as is one of the main campuses of the University of Rochester. Located in Rochester, New York, it houses the university’s primary medical education, research, and patient care facilities.

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is one of the medical schools of Rutgers  University thus, it is sometimes called the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. It is closely aligned with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital which is the medical school’s principal affiliate.
The medical school operates campuses in Piscataway and New Brunswick in New Jersey. Up until July of 2013, the school was part of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). The school has 20 basic science and clinical departments in addition to a wide range of clinical programs conducted at its 34 hospital affiliates and numerous ambulatory care sites.
University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences
The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences is a medical school of the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. The school offers over 20 health-related programs and is ranked among the Top 100 Best Medical Schools for Research and Primary Care.
The school’s medical program is an integration of research, education, and patient care. The school’s curriculum prepares its students for a highly competitive career upon graduation by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and attitude they need to make headway.
The College of Medicine and Life Sciences which is on the Health Science Campus has the reputation of being on edge on advanced technology and for educating tomorrow’s researchers, health care providers, and teachers.
Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University
The Warren Alpert Medical School is the medical school of Brown University. It was previously known as Brown University School of Medicine and later became Brown Medical School before assuming its current name. The school which is located in Providence, Rhode Island is the third oldest medical school in New England.
The school is reputed to be the fourth most selective medical school in the United States. The school is ranked highly and as a matter of fact, features among the top 20 medical schools in the United States. Graduates of the school compete favorably in residency programs and leading medical centers.
As much as the aforementioned medical schools do not require MCAT, they still require you to pass any other standardized test of your choosing.
