Despite the global pandemic that has plagued the world making companies to hit the books and go back to the basics, we are still privileged to get few smartphone launch from OEMs which is a rare commodity these days.

OnePlus Z is one bad-kept secret device having garnered huge anticipation with leaks and renders doing its best to satisfy our burning curiosity.

The new disruptive product has been leaked a number of times, with the company even hinting at its existence, when OnePlus’ CEO, Pete Lau, revealed that the company is working on an ‘first’ affordable smartphone.

Interestingly, this was a company that just discontinued it’s agreement to make the OnePlus concept McClaren edition. A move that just about suits all parties with the fight to balance the books, so envisaging a complete ‘budget’ smartphone seems a little out of the picture.

However, the OnePlus Z is expected to be an all-new category of smartphones for OnePlus, with the company rumoured to equip it with a fast mid-range processor and start its retail at an affordable mid-range price point.

Hard to ultimately keep a new smartphone under wraps these days…

OnePlus Z Features & Specifications

The OnePlus Z smartphone display is tipped to be AMOLED in nature, with a screen size of 6.4-6.5 inches running at a refresh rate of 90 Hz.

The phone recently listed on Geekbench, also hinted at OnePlus going with the Snapdragon 765G SoC, instead of a MediaTek SoC for the device. This could be paired with OxygenOS 10 operating system based on Android 10.

For optics, the OnePlus Z is tipped to feature a triple rear camera set-up with a 48-megapixel, a 12-megapixel and a 13-megapixel sensor as well as a laser autofocus system. At the front, there is said to be a 16-megapixel lens.

Under the hood, the leak reveals the device is expected to be made available in two variants, with either 8GB or 12 GB of RAM and storage of 128GB or 256 GB.

Keeping the lights on could be a 4000 mAh rechargeable battery with support for fast 30-watt recharge via the USB Type-C port.

OnePlus Z Price and Availability in Nigeria

OnePlus flagship smartphones have been well welcomed in the tech ecosystem ridiculous prices, but making a totally budget device in a situation like this when the world is in hibernation and smartphone sales just nothing to write home about?

We just staying arms akimbo for now, at least!

The OnePlus Z is expected to be priced at NGN135,300 (about $330) in Nigeria, which is roughly $200 less than what the OnePlus 8 retails for in India, Android Police says.

The report claims that the OnePlus Z smartphone could make its debut during the second week of July. The company tentatively plans to launch the device between July 6-12, however, this could change depending on the prevailing market conditions.

The smartphone will only be available for order on major online outlets for the Nigerian market after launch.

The phone has been tipped to be made black, white, blue and some special gradients.
