XOS 5.0 Cheetah Review: Everything smart in Infinix Mobile’s new UI

What a month Infinix Mobility is having, fresh off from the release of their Hot S4 smartphone, a successor to the Hot S3X, the Hong Kong-based smartphone manufacturer has added a new upgrade to their Android UI skin – the XOS 5.0 Cheetah.

The custom-made XOS 5 Cheetah comes handy with a whole new upgrade spotting tons of new features but is still reminiscent of the older versions of the UI like the XOS 4.0 HoneyBee which also is encoded on many of their recent smartphones.

Custom user interfaces from the different Android phone makers have created some level of differentiation. The new XOS UI is unique with all its amazing features will no doubt enable Infinix smartphone users to optimize their smartphone usage.

Privacy Protection

Internet security and data privacy, you cannot just help it out but you sure can go a long way to stopping yourself falling victim of hacks and attacks in some way.

Bearing in mind that lots of creepy apps might be listening to your conversations by recording them, Infinix has brought in a new feature to their custom UI which will in some way help you curb the paranoia.

When an app is using the microphone and you are not aware, XOS 5.0 will notify you with a pop-up message such as – “XXX App is recording”, thus making sure you are in control of all recording processes.

Fingerprint password reset

That moment you fall victim of continuously changing your smartphone password and then you finally can’t get hold of the last/new one you just created – well, there must be a solution, that is if you ain’t using LastPass Password Manager to save up your many passwords.

With XOS 5.0 Cheetah update comes the fingerprint password rest option which solves the password amnesia problem.

How does this work? In the unfortunate event where you forget the password or PIN of your Infinix phone, you will now have the option to reset it using the fingerprint. Easy and ASAP!

Data switcher

Infinix XOS 5.0 Cheetah also has introduced a data switcher toggle in the quick setting menu which comes handy for a particular problem we all been facing.

This will enable you to easily switch the SIM card you want to use for data connections without digging up the feature in the settings menu. Many people of course use multiple SIM card lines depending on who is giving more data at a particular time.

In case you need to switch, it doesn’t have to be painful anymore with XOS 5.

Brand New Icon Design

Honestly, I’ve spent have of my Android experience time looking for the best icons on Freepik or iCons8 while my wallpaper inquest has always seen me spend hours walking through the archives on Creative but, do I seriously need those now? Certainly not.

The new icon pack in XOS 5.0 Cheetah brings a fresh, gorgeous and more elegant visual representation. The new icon designs coming through with aesthetics that allow every detail to be more attractive.

AI for video chats

You know that moment when you’ve got a Penta-lens PureView smartphone with crazy image-taking experience yet you only get a single lens for video capture, though in 4K? So has the difference been when it comes to having a great video chart experience?

Video calling has somewhat gone through the roof in recent times with smartphones the very protagonists in this exponential rise and causing big social media companies like WhatsApp introducing video calling interface in their messaging apps.

However they try, the issue of trying to look good in video calls cannot just go away since most of the times the video reaching the other end of the call has been compressed.

The new update to Infinix XOS brings a Smart Panel which has all your favourite & frequently-used features and localization services but with a catch!

The Infinix XOS Smart Panel is located by swiping from any side of your Infinix smartphone and offers a whole lot of different fancies like; taking a selfie from within just 2 steps enabling you to capture all the beautiful moments, there is also the Scan and Pay which made its debut in the XOS 4.0 HoneyBee.

It is basically a tool that houses the most used features in your smartphone, making them available on any screen in a few taps without having to visit your smartphone app drawer all the time.

Intelligent Notifications Management

We have all been witness to that moment when you run to unlock your phone whenever your notification ringtone beeps only to find its MTN NG or Airtel and literally nothing important, and I am not alone.

Google Assistants and the lots have so much moved to solve this problem and Infinix not to be left out, introduced a like-for-like feature on the XOS 5 Cheetah bringing users voice notifications from their smartphones.

You can now set an assistant to broadcast you’re the weather forecast, schedules, calls and messages and social media notifications. Basically, all the messages you care about read out loud to you in three different languages – English, French and Hindi.

There is also the XOS Intelligent notification management which helps manage those notifications you will never open buy always swipping them away one by one to reduce the clutter.

The new XOS Cheetah uses some machine learning to recognizes and sorts spam or undesired message notifications you don’t want to see often and groups them into a single category that can be blocked or literally stacked away.

Infinix XOS 5 Cheetah Extra Bits

The XOS 5 Cheetah also has the AI Read Mode which brings artificial intelligence powered read mode to your reading sessions on your smartphone.

The AI Read mode works by adjusting the screen brightness and colour temperature on your phone to make the screen more comfortable to the eye. A very important feature as many people tends to read books and study material on their handheld devices.

There is also the XOS Smart Photo cleanup which will make sure you stop one practice you always see yourself doing – taking lots of pictures after which you choose the few good ones.

XOS 5 Cheetah categorizes photos into the dark, blurry and similar pics to enable you to delete and keep only the best versions of your memories. A very great way to save the much-needed space on your phone.

Con-Cluesion

The Infinix XOS 5.o Cheetah UI seems to be the complete package for now from Infinix but the many problem X-Users face comes from the upgrade.

Not like your normal stock Android, Infinix XOS continues to stand out on its own but the issue here comes when users want an upgrade to the latest UI upgrade maybe due to bugs or glitches here or there.

Complains ranging from downloading corrupt software to haphazard upgrades while most users are left with no other choice than to purchase a new smartphone with the latest XOS upgrade already running on it.
